Autumn term summary

All the children settled well into Key Stage 2 in the Autumn Term and have enjoyed the ‘France’ and ‘Modern Britain’ topics.  They have made French Bread sandwiches, tasted French cheeses and created pictures in the style of Monet. They used maps, atlases and the internet to find out about Paris, bridges, food and the coastal regions.  The children then went on to make plasticine bridges and write postcards from the seaside resorts.  When exploring ‘Modern Britain’ children learnt the twist and the jive, and looked at fashion from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.  They watched clips of children’s TV programmes in those decades and how the Beano comic has changed.  During the Modern Britain topic we had several grandparents come in to school to show us objects and tell us about their life growing up.  A big thank you to all our visitors this term, who have provided us with interesting objects to explore and great stories to think about. All the children settled well into Key Stage 2 in the Autumn Term and have enjoyed the ‘France’ and ‘Modern Britain’ topics.  They have made French Bread sandwiches, tasted French cheeses and created pictures in the style of Monet.
