Hertfordshire agreed syllabus for Religious Education
The Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus provides the statutory aims and purposes of RE for all pupils in Maintained and Voluntary Controlled schools in Hertfordshire and specifies for leaders of RE and teachers what should be taught at each Key Stage: hertfordshire-agreed-syllabus-religious-education-2023-2028-v3 Bengeo Primary school as a maintained school follows the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus.
This Syllabus is based on a clear understanding of RE’s educational value for pupils, schools and society as a whole. The Syllabus is called ‘Engaging with Diversity: An Exploration of Religion and World Views’ and encourages Hertfordshire pupils to reflect on and develop their own beliefs and ways of living whilst developing positive and respectful attitudes towards those of different faiths, beliefs and ways of living. In particular it reflects the emphasis now placed on what is called the ‘worldviews approach’ to RE. The aim of the syllabus is to help pupils to understand the world and to find their place within it”.
